Personal and Experiential
Foundations Level 1:
This course introduces the 4-part practice routine of contemplative psychology as well as the basic concepts of Jung's model of the psyche. The Personal and Experiential workshop will include exercises in focusing the mind, ways to gather information and learn about the psyche in general and your mind in particular, techniques to open the mind to the deep flow of images, and the basics of understanding those images and then living accordingly.
Our focusing portion will include: seated silent meditation, silent movement, and a practice of following an image.
The learning and opening portion includes the Jungian Word Association Test, some gentle personal feedback, and typology study, as well as brief forays into yoga Nidra, dream work and automatic writing.
The practice of understanding involves Jung's 3 methods of narrative, mythic and translational amplification -
Which then becomes the basis for living differently in a more adapted way according to your own center of being.

Other forthcoming workshops include:
The Monastic Life Project:
This workshop shows you how to understand the symbolic meaning of monastic life, to find your own internal 'vinaya' or monastic code, to develop a routine that works in your present life and to live it out into the world.
The Inner Precepts:
Precepts of various kinds are the gateway to many forms of Dharma traditions as well as Western religious traditions. They are usually historically and socially contextual - and often used to control inclusion in a group or enhance a hierarchical power structure - however this workshop will lead to an understanding of the more universal and symbolic meaning of the precepts and how to investigate and live by them in today's world.
Vows of Formlessness:
This phrase, taken from the Platform Sutra, refers to vows that are based in and lead to the essentially formless aspect of non-discursive consciousness. To put it more simply, there are certain life-commitments that are unique to each individual and which lead to a fulfilled life. These are not one-size-fits-all and so are better discovered than imposed. Inthis workshop we discover our own and understand what it is to live accordingly.
Psychological Dharma Practices:
This workshop starts with one any one of the many classic dharma practices and 'grounds' it in psychological experience. We understand all metaphysics as psychological information - that is - true as an experience rather than as an outer reality. Whether we use the Chod practice of feeding demons or investigate the Buddha families, we will see these images as aspects of ourselves (called archetypes by Jung and experienced in personal form as complexes), and work through the here-and-now personal and interpersonal implications of the practice chosen for each particular workshop.
